Fast 5 with Sally & Maha
What couldn’t you live without in the kitchen?
SALLY – Food processor! For lunch, I love to make salads filled that I can pre-make the night before in a mason jar – it’s super easy to take to work and eat on the go. Our Lime, Basil & Veggie Salad is the best for it – literally put everything in the food processor and blitz!
MAHA – A blender, for sure! For both Sal and I, our day generally starts with our Super Green Smoothies – so no surprises that’s what I can’t live without!
What is your most memorable meal and why?
SALLY – I would have to say Buddakan in New York. Even though it’s not new anymore, I just love the food and the atmosphere. It’s usually my first stop when I hop off the plane.
MAHA – One night in Chicago, just after Elyssa was born. It was snowing and all Annabelle wanted was pancakes for dinner. We trudged there and waited in line for ages but it was so worth it – definitely a night to remember!
What’s your worst kitchen disaster?
SALLY – Running out of PIC’s Peanut Butter. I was recently making a Choc Peanut Butter Slice for a party for 150 people and the main ingredient for this recipe was peanut butter – but of course I didn’t realise I had none until I’d placed all the other ingredients in the bowl. Uuurgh. #facepalm
MAHA – I once forgot to put the lid on the blender (obviously too excited about my Super Green Smoothie) aaaand the smoothie went everywhere! Do you know how hard it is to clean a smoothie off the ceiling?!
What would you want to eat for your last meal?
SALLY – Italian, it’s my favourite cuisine. Even though I’m not Italian, I think my stomach is, hahaha! And let’s be honest, pizza is always a winner. Who doesn’t love a pizza?! And chillies because I am simply obsessed and have extra chilli on anything I make. I can’t get enough!
MAHA – Anything with cheese or tomatoes – I’m honestly addicted. The team at the SWIISH office laugh because I can easily eat two punnets of those sweet cherry tomatoes a day! So pizza – extra tomato and cheese, toasted sandwiches – extra tomato and cheese, pasta – obviously with extra tomato and cheese!
The great coriander debate – yes or no?
SALLY – YES! Yum, love it! I love Asian food, so anything that contains coriander – chicken vermicelli bowls, prawn rice paper rolls and stir-fries with plenty of chilli. Maha makes ‘No Noodle Pad Thai’ from The Good Life. She’s been obsessed ever since we first made it! It’s just perfect with the right amount of coriander.
MAHA – Love coriander, perfect addition to one of our favourite meals – our Fish Fajitas. These Fish fajitas with cabbage slaw are such a hit in my household.
